Urgent Care Q & A

When Does Dr. Le Offer Urgent Care?

Dr. Le offers urgent care at any time the office is open. When patients have urgent dental situations, they can call the office so the staff can get prepared to treat them. In an urgent care situation, the staff will be happy to rearrange the patient schedule to fit the urgent care patient in as quickly as possible.

When Does a Dental Issue Become Truly Urgent?

Many different dental issues can become urgent, very quickly. When there is major bleeding from the mouth, a broken tooth, a knocked out tooth, or significant swelling in the mouth, it is best to contact the office right away as the situation qualifies as urgent. Other situations that may be urgent include having an object stuck in the teeth or having extreme tooth pain. If patients ever have a question about whether the dental issue is genuinely urgent, they can call Dr. Le's office and the staff will be happy to help them determine whether they need to come into the office.

How Should a Knocked Out Tooth be Handled?

A knocked out tooth needs to be retrieved right away, touching the roots as little as possible. The tooth can be rinsed off in water if it is dirty. To preserve the tooth until arriving at Dr. Le's office, it should be put in a glass of full-fat cow's milk. 1 percent and 2 percent milk don't have the natural preservatives needed to keep the tooth healthy until arriving at the dentist. It is important to note that there is a short window of time to get the tooth to the dentist's office. If the patient can arrive at Dr. Le's office within an hour or less, there is a good chance that it can be re-implanted in the mouth successfully.
